About the role#
The SMBC Group Information Security Summer Intern Program offers students the chance to work on projects across security engineering, architecture, identity and access management, and cyber operational resilience. This 10-week, full-time program provides hands-on experience in a financial services environment. You will work with senior engineers and teams to support the security of our platforms, applications, and networks.
What you'll do#
- Support the implementation, maintenance, and support of various Information Security platforms.
- Provide expertise in the design and development of security solutions for operating systems, databases, applications, and networks.
- Automate manual tasks using Python, Perl, or other scripting languages.
- Participate in cyber incident response activities and threat modeling.
- Create dashboards to ingest and visualize data from multiple sources.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Cybersecurity.
- An expected graduation date of December 2027 or May 2028.
- An excellent academic record.
- Advanced skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

- This role is based in Charlotte, NC.
- The internship follows a hybrid work model.
- This is a paid, full-time position for Summer 2027.
