About the role#
This internship offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a modern, multi-platform newsroom. You will contribute to the storytelling process that informs and connects the community through broadcast and digital platforms. This position is based in Columbia, South Carolina, and requires an on-site presence for approximately 15 hours per week over a 10-week period.
What you'll do#
- Research, write, and produce news stories for broadcast and digital platforms.
- Work alongside reporters, anchors, producers, and photographers in the newsroom and in the field.
- Pitch fresh story ideas to help shape local news coverage.
- Learn to shoot video and frame compelling visuals.
- Gain exposure to control room operations and the production of live broadcasts.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program, or recent graduation.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Status as at least a sophomore at an accredited college or university.
- Availability to start between August 24th and September 14th, 2026.
- Reliable transportation, as housing and relocation assistance are not provided.
- A passion for local news, storytelling, and community impact.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Relevant academic background in Journalism, Communications, or Media Studies.
