About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional newsroom. You will contribute to multi-platform journalism while working alongside reporters, anchors, producers, and photographers to inform the local community.
What you'll do#
- Assist in researching, writing, and producing news stories for broadcast and digital platforms.
- Work alongside newsroom staff in the office and in the field.
- Pitch fresh story ideas to help shape news coverage.
- Learn to shoot video and frame compelling visuals.
- Gain exposure to control room operations and the production of live broadcasts.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program, or recent graduation.
- Pursuing a degree in Journalism, Communications, or Media Studies.
- At least 18 years of age and at least a sophomore status at an accredited college or university.
- Passion for local news, storytelling, and community impact.
- Ability to work on-site at WSBT in South Bend, IN for approximately 15 hours per week for 10 weeks.
- Reliable transportation.
