About the role#
FRONTLINE is hiring a reporting fellow for a one-year term beginning in early 2027. This position is open exclusively to graduates of the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY from the classes of 2025 and 2026. You will work alongside filmmaking teams to produce investigative documentaries, contribute to digital stories, and support interactive projects. This is a full-time, paid position.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the research, reporting, production, and fact-checking of documentary films.
- Pitch, report, write, and produce digital stories for the website.
- Coordinate with digital video and social media teams on future projects.
- Contribute to investigative projects and the FRONTLINE Local Journalism Initiative.
- Help manage tasks during the editing, vetting, and post-production phases of documentaries.
What you'll need#
- A master's degree from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY (Class of 2025 or 2026).
- Excellent reporting, writing, organizational, and communication skills.
- Facility in data and investigative journalism tools.
- Strong news judgment and fact-checking abilities.
- A strong work ethic and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
- Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
Location & details#
- The position is based in Boston, Massachusetts.
- This is a hybrid role. Staff are required to work onsite at least two days each week, specifically Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
- Sponsorship is available for international students with OPT status for the full duration of the fellowship.
