About the role#

The 2026 Summer News Internship at WSTM/CW6/WTVH-TV offers students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a broadcast news department. This program is designed for individuals planning and preparing for a career in the news industry.

What you'll do#

Assist the News Department with daily operations.
Conduct research for news stories.
Provide support during live news broadcasts.
Shadow reporters and anchors to observe professional workflows.
Participate in departmental meetings.

What you'll need#

Currently attending an accredited college or university with a major in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, or a related field.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must receive academic credit for the internship experience and provide credit verification forms.
Ability to work 10-20 hours per week, including some weekends.
Reliable transportation.

Location & details#

Location: Syracuse, New York.
Term: Summer 2026.
Modality: On-site.
Compensation: This is an unpaid internship.
