About the role#
Scot Forge is hiring an IT Software Development Intern for the Summer of 2027. You will work on-site at our corporate facility in Spring Grove, Illinois. This role involves joining a collaborative IT team to support a manufacturing environment through software development, system integrations, and business applications. You will participate in self-directed projects with mentor check-ins, pair with team members, and shadow staff to learn our systems.
What you'll do#
- Design and develop application backends, including integrations with REST APIs or webhooks.
- Build components for business-facing frontend applications across mobile, web, and edge devices.
- Participate in manufacturing digital-twin projects alongside our OT and Ignition teams.
- Work with the ERP development team to update user experiences from web to mobile platforms.
- Develop and integrate prompts, skills, and agents for generative AI within our systems.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- You will be at least a rising sophomore when the internship begins.
- Experience programming in an object-oriented language like C# or Python.
- Proficiency with Git-based version control tools.
- Experience interfacing with systems such as relational databases or REST APIs.
- Familiarity with designing frontend interfaces or developing web-based applications.
- Understanding of project scope and design, including data models and system architecture.
- Knowledge of CI/CD fundamentals, Docker, or other deployment concepts.
- Ability to build APIs or webhooks, including thread-safe or parallel processing.
- Experience working with generative AI tools.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Ability to pass a 90-day head hair drug test.
