About the role#
Schaeffler is seeking a Mechanical Engineering student for a Spring 2027 Co-op position in Fort Mill, South Carolina. You will work on-site with the Application Engineering team to gain experience in bearing technology, failure analysis, and customer support. This is a full-time, paid position.
What you'll do#
- Perform mechanical system analysis for gear, shaft, and bearing arrangements using BearinX software.
- Conduct failure analysis investigations by inspecting returned parts.
- Write technical reports that summarize root causes, findings, and recommendations for customers.
- Coordinate prototype and sample production by working with production plants and handling order entry.
- Consult with customers to identify their technical requirements and suggest bearing solutions.
- Create a database or methodology to categorize Returned Goods Analysis reports to improve future reporting efficiency.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a four-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5 per semester.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret technical data and produce clear reports.
- Capability to work well with production teams, engineers, and customers.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
