About the role#
As a Substation Engineer Intern, you will join our Grid business unit for the summer 2027 term. You will work on a project team alongside senior engineers to design new systems or modify existing infrastructure. This includes transmission, substation, distribution, renewable, and battery energy storage projects. You will apply your academic background to real-world engineering challenges while gaining hands-on experience in the field.
What you'll do#
- Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
- Support project reporting by tracking and evaluating project activities, progress, and data.
- Assist in power designs and prepare specifications for the procurement of major electrical power equipment and installation services.
- Solve engineering problems by using data and modern tools to improve workflows and deliver designs.
- Use automation and agentic AI to create calculations, summarize technical documents, or draft design documentation.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science program in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Experience using agentic AI.
- Knowledge of design techniques and principles used to produce technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
