    About the role#

    As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will join our Nuclear Power Group for the summer of 2027. You will work on a project team under the direction of senior engineers. Your work will focus on the design of new systems or modifications to existing power plant and industrial facility components. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Chicago.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist engineering team members with project execution.
    • Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications.
    • Track and evaluate project activities, progress, and associated data.
    • Solve engineering problems using modern tools like automation and AI to improve workflows and design efficiency.
    • Use programming or scripting skills, such as Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel, to automate calculations and reporting.

    What you'll need#

    • Completion of coursework toward a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong PC skills.
    • Enrollment in an ABET-accredited engineering program is preferred.
    • Prior internship or co-op experience is valued.
    • Understanding of the practical application of mechanical engineering principles is valued.
    • Additional training in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or Software Engineering is a plus.

    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Compensation: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour.
