About the role#
This position is for a co-op student to join the Early-Stage Immunology group within the Global Immunology department. You will work as a member of a research team supporting vaccine and immunology programs. The role focuses on processing data, building computational models, and applying statistical techniques to generate insights for research.
What you'll do#
- Develop and implement computational pipelines to process large-scale immunological datasets.
- Analyze complex biological data from sources like genomic sequencing, proteomics, and immunological assays.
- Quality check research data entries in electronic notebooks.
- Use programming languages and bioinformatics software to process high-throughput data.
- Maintain data quality by establishing documentation standards and best practices.
- Optimize pipelines and perform code maintenance.
- Visualize data and conduct statistical analysis using version control systems and computational notebooks.
- Attend group meetings, present results, and contribute to scientific discussions.
- Assist in the implementation of analytical pipelines for pre-clinical immunology groups.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in bioinformatics, computational biology, data science, computer science, or a related field.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week on-site for the full duration of the co-op.
- Permanent authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship.
- Foundational coursework in statistics, programming, and biological sciences.
- Programming proficiency in Python, R, or a similar language.
- Understanding of biological concepts, specifically in immunology.
- Experience with immunological assay data such as ELISA or cell-based assays is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Proficient verbal and written English skills.
