About the role#
As a Research Data Sciences intern, you will contribute to high-impact projects that advance our mission to develop therapies for life-threatening diseases. You will gain real-world experience while participating in professional development, leadership presentations, and networking activities.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to the development of a proof-of-concept AI-enabled workflow that integrates biological evidence from public and internal data sources.
- Curate, analyze, and integrate diverse biological datasets, including gene and protein expression atlases, single-cell and spatial biology, human genetics, and literature databases.
- Explore the application of large language models and AI-assisted knowledge retrieval to synthesize evidence and generate structured target review summaries.
- Assess candidate oncology targets for disease relevance, cell-type specificity, biological rationale, translational evidence, and safety considerations.
- Collaborate with scientists across Research Data Sciences, Oncology, and related functions to refine research questions and evaluate workflow outputs.
- Present your work at the conclusion of the internship.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related AI-focused field.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8.
- Ability to commit to a full-time, 10 to 12-week internship between May and August.
- Independent authorization to work in the United States now and in the future without sponsorship.
- Proficiency in R or Python for scientific computing, data analysis, and visualization.
- Hands-on experience with machine learning, statistical modeling, or generative AI tools.
- Familiarity with genomics, transcriptomics, single-cell biology, spatial biology, and multi-modal data integration.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A Ph.D. degree is preferred.
