About the role#
This co-op position works with the Plating Lab, Process Engineering, and the Materials Innovation Group. You will gain exposure to laboratory testing, electroplating techniques, and research areas for new plating technologies. This role is based in New Albany, Indiana.
What you'll do#
- Learn the Samtec electroplating process.
- Perform analytical procedures like UV-Vis and ICP-OES to monitor and maintain electroplating baths.
- Run post-plating quality checks, including porosity analyses and gold usage.
- Investigate internal and customer quality problems.
- Use Samtec systems to record and update plating process parameters.
- Troubleshoot plating line issues.
- Assist with laboratory and process improvement projects.
- Conduct electrochemical experiments while supporting R&D for new plating methods.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a sophomore, junior, or senior in a Chemistry or Chemical Engineering bachelor's degree program.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work well with a team and manage interpersonal relationships.
- Effective time management skills to handle multiple projects.
- Eagerness to learn new skills and gain expertise.
