About the role#
Samtec is looking for a Chemical Engineering or Chemistry student to join our team in New Albany. You will work with the Plating Lab, Process Engineering, and the Materials Innovation Group. This role offers exposure to laboratory testing, electroplating techniques, and research into new plating methods. You will contribute to both fundamental and applied research while gaining hands-on experience in our manufacturing environment.
What you'll do#
- Perform analytical procedures such as UV-Vis and ICP-OES to monitor electroplating baths.
- Run post-plating quality checks, including porosity analyses and gold usage tracking.
- Investigate internal and customer quality issues.
- Record and update plating process parameters within Samtec systems.
- Troubleshoot plating line problems as they arise.
- Assist with laboratory and process improvement projects.
- Conduct electrochemical experiments to support R&D for new metal plating methodologies.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
What you'll need#
- Currently a sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective time management to balance multiple projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well within a team.

- This position is based on-site in New Albany, Indiana.
- This is a paid, full-time co-op role.
