About the role#
Royal Credit Union is hiring a Technical Writer Intern for a 12-month position. This role focuses on turning complex information into clear, concise documentation for our teams and members. You will work on-site at our Corporate Center in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. This is a paid, full-time internship running from January 2027 through January 2028.
What you'll do#
- Collect, manage, and analyze information for various projects.
- Write, edit, and publish both online and hard copy user documentation.
- Follow our internal style guide and use tools like Microsoft Word and MadCap Flare.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather information and ensure accuracy.
- Maintain and update content within our content management systems.
- Meet performance goals and objectives.
- Ensure compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act by completing required reports like CTRs and SARs.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment at a university or technical college in English, Business Communication, Rhetoric, or a related field.
- Completion of or current enrollment in a technical communication course.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and familiarity with PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.
- Comfort working in a team and conducting interviews to gather information.
- Ability to learn new technologies and digital tools quickly.
- One year of experience in a service-focused or writing-focused role.
- Must be bondable.
Location & details#
- Location: Corporate Center, Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
- Schedule: Approximately 15 to 20 hours per week during the school year and 30 to 40 hours per week during the summer.
- Hours: Generally Monday through Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm, based on your class schedule.
- Training: New team members must attend Foundation Training at our Corporate Center from 9:00am to 4:30pm on the first Monday and Tuesday of employment.
- Compensation: $17.85 to $19.98 per hour, depending on experience.
