About the role#
The Business Loan Credit Analyst Intern supports the Credit and Business Loan Departments. You will gain practical experience in commercial lending, credit analysis, financial statement review, and risk assessment. This position involves assisting with analytical and administrative tasks while working alongside experienced professionals to understand lending principles and organizational practices.
What you'll do#
- Assist with credit analysis, underwriting, and portfolio monitoring.
- Review borrower financial information, loan applications, tax returns, bank statements, and supporting documentation for accuracy.
- Perform financial statement spreading, cash flow analysis, and covenant testing.
- Research borrowers, industries, market trends, and peer performance.
- Prepare and organize credit presentations, annual reviews, renewals, and third-party reports.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at a University or Technical College in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Agricultural Business, Banking, or a related field.
- Interest in commercial lending, finance, or credit analysis.
- Basic understanding of financial statements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Close attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and a willingness to learn new systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Previous work experience in a customer service, office, banking, accounting, or finance environment is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Royal Credit Union Corporate Center, Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
- Term: January 2027 through January 2028.
- Commitment: Must commit to the full 12-month internship.
- Modality: On-site only.
- Schedule: Approximately 12-15 hours per week during the school year and 30-40 hours per week during the summer, typically Monday through Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm.
- Compensation: $17.85-19.98 per hour.
- Training: Required attendance at Foundation Training in Eau Claire from 9:00am to 4:30pm on the first Monday and Tuesday of employment.
