About the role#
Rendezvous Robotics is developing electromagnetic self-assembling tiles to enable the construction of large spacecraft in orbit. As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will contribute directly to the development and hands-on assembly of flight hardware. This role focuses on the mechanical challenges of docking, latching, and thermal management within constrained space environments.
What you'll do#
- Design and iterate on structural components and docking interface hardware.
- Work on thermal management solutions for onboard electronics and battery packs.
- Support the mechanical integration of electronics, power systems, and sensors within a tight envelope.
- Develop and refine harness and connector layouts between internal subsystems.
- Run structural and thermal analysis to validate designs prior to fabrication.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as Onshape, NX, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360.
- Understanding of basic structural and thermal analysis principles.
- Preferred experience includes designing for space environments, familiarity with ruggedized connectors, hands-on prototyping or machining, and experience with FEA tools.
- To comply with U.S. export regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
