About the role#
Rendezvous Robotics is developing modular, self-assembling spacecraft components. As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will join a small team to support the development and assembly of flight hardware. This role focuses on the mechanical challenges of docking interfaces, structural integrity, and thermal management required for orbital assembly.
What you'll do#
- Design and iterate on structural components and docking interface hardware.
- Manage thermal solutions for onboard electronics and battery packs.
- Support the mechanical integration of electronics, power systems, and sensors within tight packaging constraints.
- Develop and refine harness and connector layouts between internal subsystems.
- Perform structural and thermal analysis to validate designs prior to fabrication.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Physics.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as Onshape, NX, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360.
- Understanding of fundamental structural and thermal analysis principles.
- Hands-on experience with machining, 3D printing, or prototyping.
- Experience designing for space environments, including thermal cycling, vacuum, vibration, and radiation shielding.
- Familiarity with FEA tools and ruggedized connector design is preferred.
- Ability to meet U.S. government export regulations (ITAR).
