About the role#
Rendezvous Robotics develops electromagnetic self-assembling tiles to build large-scale spacecraft in orbit. As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will join our small team in Golden to design, build, and test flight hardware. You will work on the core mechanical challenges of our system, including docking interfaces, thermal management, and structural integration.
What you'll do#
- Design and iterate on structural components and docking interface hardware.
- Manage thermal solutions for onboard electronics and battery packs.
- Integrate electronics, power systems, and sensors within tight spatial envelopes.
- Develop and refine harness and connector layouts between internal subsystems.
- Run structural and thermal analysis to validate designs before manufacturing.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in CAD tools such as Onshape, NX, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360.
- Understanding of basic structural and thermal analysis principles.
- Experience designing for space environments including vacuum, thermal cycling, radiation shielding, and vibration.
- Familiarity with cable harness design and ruggedized connectors.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, 3D printing, or machining.
- Experience with FEA tools like ANSYS, FEMAP, or NX Simcenter3D.
- Ability to meet U.S. government export regulations (ITAR).
