About the role#
Leonardo DRS is hiring a Mechanical Engineer Co-Op for a term spanning Winter 2027 through Summer 2027. You will work on mechanical design and platform integration, providing sustaining engineering for hardware. This role involves developing CAD models, managing engineering changes, and resolving production or test issues. You will work alongside manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams to ensure designs meet performance and cost requirements.
What you'll do#
- Support mechanical design and integration for assemblies based on system and component requirements.
- Create and revise CAD models and drawings while applying GD&T standards.
- Prepare Engineering Change Orders and assist with configuration management processes.
- Troubleshoot prototype, test, and production issues by identifying root causes and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement design fixes and improvements.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Currently a Junior or above in a Bachelor’s program for Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- At least one prior internship, Co-Op, or relevant industry experience.
- Proficiency with 3D modeling software such as CREO Parametric, SolidWorks, or Unigraphics.
- Ability to read and interpret commercial or military mechanical drawings.
