About the role#
The Portfolio Risk Oversight team at RBC is hiring a Data & AI Analyst Intern for the Winter 2027 term. This role focuses on assessing credit risks across Business and Commercial Banking. You will work with financial data to create insights that help shape risk guidelines and support strategic decisions. This is a 4-month full-time position running from January to April 2027.
What you'll do#
- Analyze credit risk and portfolio data to identify trends and emerging risks.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly risk reports for various stakeholders.
- Respond to ad-hoc analytics requests from business partners.
- Contribute to automation and modernization projects to improve reporting efficiency.
- Manage the full data lifecycle, including extraction, transformation, and interpretation.
- Participate in analytics design sessions to document business requirements.
- Explore and apply new tools, including generative AI, to solve technical problems.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary program related to Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance, or Economics.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of Python and SQL for querying and manipulating large datasets.
- Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau.
- Ability to explain complex data findings to non-technical partners.
- Intellectual curiosity and a self-starter mindset.
