About the role#
Raytheon Technologies is hiring a Software Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Sterling, Virginia. You must be a U.S. citizen to be eligible for this role. The internship provides an opportunity to work on complex software applications within the aerospace and defense industry.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, test, and debug real-time, multi-threaded, and multiprocessing software applications.
- Create APIs and user interfaces for simulation and training systems.
- Work with software engineers and project managers to plan and prioritize tasks.
- Maintain and improve existing software products.
- Learn new technologies and apply them to new problem sets.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or advanced degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field.
- Proficiency in Object-Oriented Design and Programming using C, C++, or C#.
- Experience with source code control tools such as git, Subversion, or ClearCase.
- Development experience in Windows 10, Windows 11, or Linux environments.
- Preferred skills include Agile, Kanban, or SCRUM methodologies, unit testing, and multithreading IPCs.
- Additional experience in AI/ML, Unreal Engine, virtual reality, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, or PostgreSQL is a plus.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
