About the role#
This summer internship program allows you to apply economic concepts in a professional services setting. You will work alongside experts in financial economics, corporate finance, energy, competition, and regulatory economics. The program focuses on improving your research and data analysis skills while helping you learn to manage and prioritize tasks in a collaborative team environment.
What you'll do#
- Build models and create data-based solutions using tools like Excel, R, Python, GAMS, Stata, and VBA.
- Conduct statistical and econometric analysis and build interactive dashboards.
- Perform comprehensive energy analysis, including market research, literature reviews, and document examination.
- Write memos to provide insights and support expert reports.
- Contribute to client deliverables such as presentations and memos.
- Assist in preparing expert reports that explain complex economic concepts in legal and regulatory contexts.
- Develop, maintain, and run power system models, including capacity expansion and security-constrained production cost models.
- Analyze electricity, natural gas, and other energy markets.
- Coauthor publications and communicate research findings to project teams.
What you'll need#
- Pursuit of an undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline such as economics, computer science, data science, or mathematics.
- Strong academic performance, typically with a GPA of 3.7 or higher.
- Completion of, or enrollment in, a course with a climate or energy focus.
- Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills.
- Intellectual curiosity and a creative approach to problem-solving.
- A high degree of ownership, commitment, and strong communication skills.
