About the role#
As an Energy Analyst Intern, you will join our project teams to support senior consultants and experts. This program allows you to apply economic concepts in a professional services setting while improving your research and data analysis skills. You will work alongside experts in energy, competition, and regulatory economics.
What you'll do#
- Build quantitative models and create data-based solutions using tools like Excel, R, Python, GAMS, Stata, and VBA.
- Conduct statistical and econometric analysis and build interactive dashboards.
- Perform comprehensive energy analysis, including market research, literature reviews, and document examination.
- Write memos to provide insights and support expert reports.
- Contribute to client deliverables, such as presentations and memos, with figures and quantitative results.
- Assist in preparing expert reports and presentations for legal and regulatory contexts.
- Analyze electricity, natural gas, and other energy markets.
- Develop, maintain, and run power system models, including capacity expansion and production cost models.
- Coauthor publications and participate in presentation teams.
- Think critically about analysis results and discuss findings with your internal team.
What you'll need#
- An undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline, such as economics, computer science, data science, or mathematics.
- Strong academic performance, typically with a GPA of 3.7 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Great teamwork and leadership skills, as project work is done in teams.
- Intellectual curiosity and creativity when approaching problems.
- A high degree of ownership and commitment to your work.
- Strong communication skills.
- Completion of, or current enrollment in, a course with a climate or energy focus.
