About the role#
Flex is seeking a Robotics/Mechatronics Engineering Co-Op for the Winter 2027 term. This position is based in Libertyville, Illinois. You will report to the Process and Automation Engineering team to support robotic handling systems, vision integration, and validation for Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) and Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS).
What you'll do#
- Assist with robot path optimization and cycle time studies.
- Support validation and mechanical improvements for ASRS and AMR systems.
- Help with vision system tuning and validation.
- Verify safety interlocks.
- Participate in troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams.
- Attend team meetings to support project work.
What you'll need#
- Junior or Senior status in a Bachelors program for Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer, or Electrical Engineering.
- A 3.0 GPA or higher.
- Basic knowledge of industrial robotics, including robot motion, end-of-arm tooling, and path programming.
- Understanding of AMR and ASRS fundamentals such as navigation, material flow, and validation.
- Ability to perform cycle time analysis.
- Knowledge of automation safety principles.
- Strong troubleshooting and hands-on problem-solving skills.
- Previous manufacturing floor internship experience is a plus.
