About the role#
Flex is seeking an NPI Process Engineering Co-op to support the transition of new medical products from the prototype stage into pilot line production. Reporting to the NPI Engineering Manager, you will collaborate with process engineers to develop assembly flows and prepare products for transfer to contract manufacturing. This is a full-time, on-site position for the Winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Assess new medical product designs for manufacturability and ease of assembly.
- Participate in the build of electro-mechanical assemblies to identify process risks.
- Create detailed assembly process documentation for pilot production teams and contract manufacturers.
- Collaborate with the lead process engineer to identify and develop assembly and test tools.
- Assist in the evaluation of assembly issues and work with cross-functional teams to implement solutions.
- Support equipment development and validation activities, including the design and execution of experiments to determine process operating limits.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 4-year accredited university program studying Mechanical, Biomedical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering.
- Strong initiative and personal ownership of work product.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude with experience in structured problem-solving.
- Basic to intermediate proficiency in SolidWorks, including part and assembly creation and 2D drawing.
- Demonstrated capability in technical or creative writing.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work full-time on-site for the duration of the term.
