About the role#
Flex is hiring an Automation/Controls Engineering Co-Op for our site in Libertyville, Illinois. You will report to the Process and Automation Engineering team and work alongside engineers to support PLC-based automation systems. This role focuses on molding, coiling, and buffer integration projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist with PLC testing and troubleshooting.
- Support the preparation and execution of FAT/SAT procedures.
- Troubleshoot sensors, actuators, and HMIs.
- Support automation documentation and architecture reviews.
- Validate buffer timing logic and perform system re-testing.
- Attend team meetings to support ongoing project work.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 4-year accredited university pursuing a BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Automation Engineering.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Basic knowledge of PLCs, industrial sensors, actuators, and HMIs.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and understand control panels.
- Familiarity with automation architecture and timing or sequence logic.
- Understanding of FAT/SAT testing and system validation concepts.
- Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and teamwork skills.
- Previous manufacturing floor internship or co-op experience is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Libertyville, Illinois.
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, on-site.
- Compensation: This is a paid position.
