    About the role#

    Flex is hiring an Automation/Controls Engineering Co-Op for our site in Libertyville, Illinois. You will report to the Process and Automation Engineering team and work alongside engineers to support PLC-based automation systems. This role focuses on molding, coiling, and buffer integration projects.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist with PLC testing and troubleshooting.
    • Support the preparation and execution of FAT/SAT procedures.
    • Troubleshoot sensors, actuators, and HMIs.
    • Support automation documentation and architecture reviews.
    • Validate buffer timing logic and perform system re-testing.
    • Attend team meetings to support ongoing project work.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a 4-year accredited university pursuing a BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Automation Engineering.
    • A minimum 3.0 GPA.
    • Basic knowledge of PLCs, industrial sensors, actuators, and HMIs.
    • Ability to read electrical schematics and understand control panels.
    • Familiarity with automation architecture and timing or sequence logic.
    • Understanding of FAT/SAT testing and system validation concepts.
    • Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and teamwork skills.
    • Previous manufacturing floor internship or co-op experience is a plus.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Libertyville, Illinois.
    • Term: Winter 2027.
    • Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, on-site.
    • Compensation: This is a paid position.
    • Note: Sponsorship is not available for this role.
