About the role#
This internship is a full-time position for Summer 2027 based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. You will join the Collins Aerospace Core Systems and Libraries team to work on software foundations for modern aircraft. This role requires U.S. citizenship. You must be able to travel domestically and internationally if needed, though travel is expected to be less than 10 percent.
What you'll do#
- Develop architecture and design for core software components, libraries, and tooling.
- Work on development and verification for safety-critical software following DO-178 standards.
- Create software requirements, perform decomposition, and maintain traceability across complex systems.
- Write and verify software using modern C++ and object-oriented design principles.
- Produce DO-178 certification artifacts, including DAL-A deliverables.
- Engage with customers and regulatory authorities during certification efforts.
- Conduct and contribute to peer reviews to ensure code quality and compliance.
- Collaborate across engineering, program leadership, and customer teams.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field obtained by the internship start date.
- Completion of at least 60 credit hours by the start of the internship.
