About the role#
Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to join the Protected Communication Systems Software Engineering Department in Largo, Florida. This position is for the Summer 2027 term and requires working on-site. You will contribute to various phases of the software development life cycle, working on real-time embedded software, application software, and internal tools.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the requirements, design, development, and testing of software solutions.
- Develop new work products and enhance existing systems.
- Code, test, integrate, and document software components.
- Participate in internal reviews of software systems.
- Collaborate with project managers and other engineering professionals.
- Follow established development practices to maintain configuration management.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM major.
- Active enrollment in your degree program through the completion of the internship.
- Experience with real-time Java, C/C++, Windows and Linux operating systems, GIT, Jira, and Jenkins.
- Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, systems software design, architectures, and the software development life cycle.
- Ability to work in a team-based environment and produce technical documentation.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- An active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance.
