About the role#
This is a full-time Mechanical Engineering Internship for Summer 2027 based in Richardson, Texas. You will join the team at Collins Aerospace Strategic Defense Solutions to support the design, development, and testing of electronic equipment and integration kits for military aircraft and transportable platforms. This position is on-site and requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Top Secret security clearance, which necessitates U.S. citizenship.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with Mechanical, Systems, Electrical, and Manufacturing Engineering staff to meet project requirements.
- Apply research to the planning, design, and testing of mechanical and electromechanical systems.
- Create models for components, parts, subassemblies, and assemblies.
- Execute tests for systems and components under technical oversight.
- Analyze test results against design specifications and objectives.
- Communicate project status and findings within a cross-functional team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM major.
- Completion of at least 60 credit hours by the start of the internship.
- Experience gained through coursework, projects, research, or previous work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools like Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or Catia.
- Experience with simulation tools like ANSYS or ABAQUS.
- Previous internship or work experience at RTX is a plus.
