About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Tucson, Arizona. You will work within the Precision Control and Actuation Systems department. This team develops solutions for controlling product motion, including actuators, control algorithms, firmware, and electronic control units for various vehicle platforms.
What you'll do#
- Apply engineering knowledge and problem-solving skills to mechanical design and development tasks.
- Collaborate within a team environment to determine and develop project approaches and solutions.
- Receive guidance and inputs from program or team experts.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Advanced degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics.
- Completion of at least 60 credit hours by the start of the internship.
- Experience with CAD tools such as CREO or equivalent software.
- Proficiency in Engineering Analysis and Simulation tools, specifically MATLAB and Python.
- Experience in mechanical or electrical design, engineering, and analysis.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, forging, welding, and bonding.
- Knowledge of mechanical drawing practices, dimensioning, and tolerancing.
- At least one prior internship, co-op, or hands-on experience with technical clubs or teams like robotics, rocketry, formula racing, or UAV projects.
- U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.
