About the role#
IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern for a 10-12 week program in Melbourne, Florida, during the summer of 2027. You will work alongside experienced engineers on the analysis, design, and implementation of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. This is a full-time, on-site position focused on providing hands-on experience with project work for education, corporate, and commercial markets.
What you'll do#
- Assist with mechanical system design projects in accordance with code and company standards.
- Research commercially available equipment.
- Maintain project design notebooks and documentation for permanent record files.
- Coordinate design schedules with various disciplines and equipment suppliers.
- Document design decisions, meeting notes, and client instructions.
- Monitor the progress of project designs.
- Review project documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and issue addendum information.
- Conduct periodic job site observations.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 2 years toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field.
- A strong interest in design consulting.
- Proficiency with the MS Office Suite.
- Skills in AutoCAD or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
- Ability to communicate clearly in both oral and written forms.
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry is preferred.
