About the role#
Raytheon Technologies is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern to join the space and airborne optics department. This role is based in El Segundo, California, for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on-site to support the development, integration, and testing of space and airborne hardware. This is a full-time, paid position. Please note that U.S. citizenship is required for this role.
What you'll do#
- Perform mechanical component design on opto-mechanical systems using Creo.
- Support assembly, integration, and test activities within a lab environment.
- Create and revise opto-mechanical designs and drawings.
- Generate assembly instructions and provide build support alongside technicians and other engineering disciplines.
- Conduct design for producibility and manufacturability.
- Present your work for peer reviews.
- Research component design and materials for the analysis of mechanical assemblies.
- Generate detailed design drawings incorporating GD&T.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional engineering team.
- Manage and process engineering changes using a product data management tool.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM field.
- Active enrollment through the completion of the internship.
- Completion of at least 60 credit hours by the start of the internship.
- Experience in the design and development of mechanical hardware.
- Proficiency in commercial CAD software, such as Creo.
