About the role#
This is a full-time, on-site Mechanical Design Engineering Co-op position based in Jamestown, North Dakota. The role supports the development of aircraft mechanical cargo systems, including design, integration, and testing. You will work alongside engineers to ensure new products meet functional objectives and quality standards. This position requires U.S. citizenship to access program information.
What you'll do#
- Support the development of aircraft mechanical cargo systems through design, integration, and test.
- Work cross-functionally with customer teams, hardware and software designers, test engineers, technicians, supply chain, production, quality, and field service engineers.
- Perform engineering work and applied research for new products.
- Develop, design, and test mechanical components and systems.
- Resolve daily technical problems on production lines to minimize disruption.
- Participate in technical preparations for new product implementation.
- Operate CAD software to design components and complete drawing designs.
- Consult with engineers, customers, and vendors on engineering projects.
- Produce products according to specifications.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree program in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, maintained through the end of the co-op.
- Completion of at least 45 credit hours by the start of the session.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as NX, Catia, Creo, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Autodesk.
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, or Outlook.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings.
- Experience working on cross-functional teams.
- Previous RTX internship, co-op, or work experience is preferred.
