    About the role#

    This Combustion Engineering internship is part of the Combustion Aerothermal Systems department within the Turbomachinery organization. You will focus on the CFD prediction and validation of NOx emissions in gas turbine engines. The role involves designing and validating combustion sections for turbofan, turboprop, and turboshaft engines.

    What you'll do#

    • Prepare combustion chamber geometry using ANSYS CAD tools.
    • Mesh geometry using ANSYS meshing tools.
    • Perform combustion CFD simulations in ANSYS Fluent to predict NOx emissions.
    • Review combustor NOx data from engines to understand key variables.
    • Implement new NOx models from literature surveys into ANSYS Fluent.
    • Document findings in technical reports and present results to the team.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a Master or PhD program for Mechanical, Aerospace, Engineering Physics, or Chemical Engineering.
    • Proficiency in ANSYS CAD tools like SpaceClaim, Design Modeller, or Discovery.
    • Experience with ANSYS mesh generators such as Fluent mesher or Workbench mesher.
    • Proficiency in ANSYS Fluent or combustion CFD codes like OpenFOAM.
    • Programming skills in C/C++, Python, or MATLAB.
    • A solid understanding of fluid mechanics, multiphase flows, and combustion sciences.
    • Eligibility to work in Canada and enrollment in a Canadian university.

    • Location: 1801 Courtneypark Dr. E, Mississauga, ON.
    • Term: Winter 2027 (January 5th to April 23rd, 2027).
    • Modality: Full-time, on-site, Monday to Friday.
    • This is a paid internship position.
