About the role#
The Invertebrate Pest Biology intern supports laboratory and greenhouse studies focused on developing biopesticides. You will work with our team to test products that control agricultural pests, helping bridge the gap between crop health and sustainability.
What you'll do#
- Assist scientists with the setup and execution of experiments, ranging from early-stage product screening to quality control testing.
- Maintain insect colonies by preparing diets, collecting eggs, repairing cages, and monitoring health.
- Prepare materials for in vitro and in planta bioassays to evaluate insecticidal candidates.
- Record data and results in an organized manner.
- Clean laboratory and greenhouse spaces, including glassware, benches, and floors.
- Support additional lab and greenhouse tasks as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, with a preference for entomology, nematology, or plant pathology.
- Hands-on experience working in a lab or greenhouse environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Clear verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, either independently or with assistance.
