About the role#
This is a full-time Systems Engineering internship for Summer 2027 based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. You will work on-site as part of the avionics team. This position requires U.S. citizenship.
What you'll do#
- Determine system requirements for avionics.
- Create system design documentation, including interface control and hardware interconnect definitions, along with human-machine interface documentation.
- Run verification procedures for laboratory testing of avionics equipment.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant certification regulations.
- Collaborate with large, multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- Gain experience with engineering tools such as Jira, Confluence, and JAMA.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Industrial, or Civil Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics.
- Past experience with RTX internships, co-ops, or other work roles.
- Previous aviation experience, such as time spent as a pilot or aircraft maintainer.
- Experience with technical writing, including undergraduate research papers.
- A history of project leadership or roles involving coordination and communication.
- Personal project experience involving the construction or operation of complex systems.
