About the role#
The Mechanical Engineering Intern will join the Mechanical Analysis and Test department during the Summer 2027 term. This role focuses on ensuring structural and thermal design integrity through a combination of classical hand calculations and advanced finite element methods. You will work within an Integrated Product Team to solve technical problems and gain experience with thermal engineering practices.
What you'll do#
- Perform hand calculations to determine requirements for detailed analysis.
- Conduct structural and thermal analyses to address technical challenges.
- Complete peer reviews of all analysis work to validate processes and results.
- Deliver findings to customers.
- Generate detailed, archival technical reports.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree program in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis tools such as ANSYS Workbench, Patran, Nastran, or Thermal Desktop.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship based in Tucson, Arizona.
- The role requires an active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance prior to the start date.
