About the role#
This is a full-time Mechanical Design Engineering internship for Summer 2027. You will work on-site in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The role focuses on the development and qualification of aircraft ejection seat products. You will join a team dedicated to safety and technical innovation.
What you'll do#
- Support all phases of design, including bid and proposal, conceptual work, qualification testing, and production implementation.
- Create design solutions and propose new technology for ejection seat hardware.
- Use UG/NX CAD software to generate models and drawings.
- Partner with System Engineering, Test Engineering, and Program Management teams.
- Execute design reviews and manage project tasks to ensure technical scope and schedule accuracy.
- Work directly with customers and prepare technical reports or presentations for their approval.
- Assist with requirements analysis and compliance planning.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree program for Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM field.
- Ability to remain enrolled through the end of the internship.
- U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
- Experience with 3D CAD software such as NX, Catia, SolidWorks, or Creo.
- Strong analytical skills, specifically in physics, dynamics, and statics.
- Experience with dynamic modeling practices, including assembly relations and mechanical simulations.
- Background in machining, sheet metal, composites, fabric design, or energetic/propellant actuated devices.
- Experience working on cross-functional teams and presenting information to stakeholders.
