About the role#
Pratt & Whitney is hiring an Electro-Optic Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Tucson, Arizona. You will join our engineering team to assist with development programs, subsystem architecture, and hardware design.
What you'll do#
- Perform optical alignment and testing for telescope assembly processes.
- Conduct EO modeling, simulation, and analysis.
- Develop requirements, validate them, and perform subsystem trade studies.
- Design optical and opto-mechanical seeker systems or test fixtures for missiles.
- Troubleshoot design and process issues, providing root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Support production activities related to the assembly and documentation of electro-optical subsystems.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Optical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM field.
- Active enrollment in your degree program through the end of the internship.
- Experience or coursework in optical design, systems integration, optical testing, or laboratory work.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain an interim U.S. government-issued security clearance.
