About the role#
The Engineering Intern is a temporary developmental role designed to provide students with practical experience building and operating digital solutions. You will work within a cross-functional product team to contribute to software design, development, testing, and deployment. This position is full-time for the Summer 2027 term. It is a paid internship, though you must provide your own housing and transportation.
What you'll do#
- Complete well-defined engineering assignments under guidance with attention to quality, security, reliability, maintainability, and testing.
- Apply software engineering fundamentals while learning team technologies, domain concepts, and modern cloud-native, DevSecOps, and delivery practices.
- Use AI-enabled engineering tools, Agentic AI patterns, and AI agents with supervision to accelerate learning and improve productivity.
- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, technical discussions, code reviews, and documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, architects, and designers to support team objectives.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Completion of coursework in programming, software engineering fundamentals, algorithms, data structures, or comparable technical subjects.
- Experience developing software through academic coursework, personal projects, hackathons, research, open-source contributions, or comparable learning experiences.
- Ability to analyze routine technical problems, ask effective questions, and apply foundational engineering principles to identify solutions.
- Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States. Compeer is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; Bloomington, Illinois; or Mankato, Minnesota.
- This position follows a hybrid work model.
- The hourly pay range is $19 to $20 per hour.
