About the role#
PCL is hiring a Design Student for our Solar district in Oakville. This is a full-time, paid position starting in Winter 2027 for a term of 4 to 16 months. You will work on-site and gain hands-on experience on real projects while receiving mentorship.
What you'll do#
- Review RFP documentation to identify key design requirements.
- Design, review, and validate solar facility layouts based on specifications.
- Calculate energy losses for designs and assist with energy production models.
- Prepare detailed site layouts and electrical single line diagrams using AutoCAD.
- Support estimating efforts by performing quantity takeoffs, material take-offs, and quantity optimization.
- Assist project teams with pricing compilation and recap.
- Support RFIs and submittals through the PM4+ system to coordinate between project stakeholders.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain customer relationships.
What you'll need#
- A strong desire to work in a design function.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Superior attention to detail.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, word processing, and spreadsheet applications like Excel.

- Compensation: $21.37 - $31.34 per hour, depending on experience.
