About the role#
This summer 2026 internship provides hands-on experience in asset risk management and electric operations. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers to improve the performance, reliability, and capacity of electric distribution assets. The role involves analyzing asset life cycle principles and identifying system threats by reviewing equipment failure data. You will also contribute to the management of asset databases and the continuous improvement of engineering standards and procedures.
What you'll do#
- Apply engineering principles and scientific theory to perform calculations and analysis under senior supervision.
- Compile technical data to support complex engineering projects.
- Manage and update asset management databases to identify emerging threats and recommend system improvements.
- Partner with senior technical peers to develop proficiency in distribution overhead equipment, including conductors, transformers, and protection equipment.
- Prepare monthly progress reports on productivity, turnaround time, and other critical business metrics.
- Complete routine tasks following established precedents, standards, and protocols.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor or Master degree program in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or a related field at an accredited university.
- Commitment to continuing education during or after the internship term.
- A cumulative and major GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Preferred qualifications include an EIT or FE certification and prior engineering experience in utilities, construction, municipalities, or consulting.
