    About the role#

    This summer internship provides hands-on exposure to asset risk management and electric operations strategy. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers to support the Distribution Overhead Asset Strategy team, learning about asset life cycle principles, distribution conductors, transformers, and switching equipment. The role focuses on improving the performance, capacity, and reliability of electric distribution assets through data analysis and system evaluation.

    What you'll do#

    • Apply engineering principles and scientific theory to perform calculations and analysis under the direction of senior staff.
    • Assist in managing and improving electric distribution assets by analyzing outages and equipment failures.
    • Update and maintain asset management databases to identify emerging threats and recommend system improvements.
    • Develop and implement continuous improvements for asset management standards and procedures.
    • Compile technical data to support complex engineering projects and prepare progress reports on productivity and business metrics.
    • Complete routine tasks following established precedents, standards, and protocols.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or a related field at an accredited university.
    • Must be continuing education during or after the internship term.
    • A cumulative and major GPA of 3.0 or greater.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently with minimal direction.
    • Desired: EIT or FE certification and prior engineering experience in utilities, construction, municipalities, or consulting.

    • Location: Oakland, California.
    • Term: Summer 2026.
    • Work Modality: Hybrid.
    • Travel: Approximately 15% of the time.
    • Status: Full-time, paid internship.
    • Note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
