About the role#
Student Government Association (SGA) leaders serve the university community for the full academic year. This role involves representing the student body, managing administrative tasks, and ensuring the SGA Constitution is upheld. These positions are paid via a stipend, which is processed at the end of each semester following an evaluation of your performance and duties.
What you'll do#
- Meet once per week during the fall and spring semesters.
- Provide weekly updates at each SGA General Meeting.
- Coordinate the work of all standing and ad-hoc committees.
- Keep the SGA Advisor informed through detailed meeting minutes.
- Appoint members to the SGA Assembly via majority vote.
- Step in to handle the duties of the SGA Assembly if it becomes incapacitated.
- Initiate action based on recommendations from the SGA Assembly.
- Enforce the SGA Constitution and create ad-hoc committees as needed.
- Manage contracts to support the commitments of the SGA Assembly.
- Fulfill scheduled office hours in the SGA office.
- Report any misconduct or policy violations to the Student Engagement Advisor.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all student and university information.
What you'll need#
- Ability to work at least three office hours per week.
- Attendance at one monthly E-board meeting.
- Participation in all E-board retreats held throughout the year.
- Attendance at all Student Organization meetings unless you receive an excused absence.
- Attendance at all Student Assembly meetings each semester.
- Attendance at all meetings relevant to your specific position.
- Active participation in the planning and execution of all SGA events.
Location & details#
- Location: Pleasantville, New York.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Modality: On-site.
- Commitment: This is a student position. You will work no more than 20 hours per week while school is in session and no more than 35 hours per week during breaks.
