About the role#
The Oracle Veteran Internship Program (OVIP) is designed to support transitioning military veterans and active-duty military spouses as they enter the corporate sector. This program offers hands-on job skill training, professional development, and the opportunity to work closely with corporate leadership and veteran coaches. As an OCI Software Engineer Intern, you will join a team building and operating massive scale, integrated cloud services within a distributed, multi-tenant environment.
What you'll do#
- Implement and operate highly available, integrated cloud services in a distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment.
- Engage in on-the-job training and professional development to facilitate a successful transition to a corporate role.
- Collaborate with diverse teams to design and build high-quality solutions.
- Participate in agile development methodologies to deliver technical projects.
- Help prepare veterans and military spouses for a successful transition to corporate roles.
What you'll need#
- Experience with application development.
- Proficiency in at least one major programming language such as Java, JavaScript, C/C++, Python, or GoLang.
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
- Working familiarity with networking protocols, including TCP/IP and HTTP.
- Knowledge of databases, NoSQL systems, storage, and distributed persistence technologies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Current enrollment or degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, or Data Science.
- Preference is given to US veterans transitioning from active service or active-duty military spouses new to corporate experience.
