    About the role#

    As an intern on the Models and Asset Liability Risk team, you will gain hands-on experience using analytical tools to evaluate the impact of asset mix decisions. This role explores the factors influencing the asset and liability balance of a pension plan, helping you understand risk and return characteristics across various asset classes. You will collaborate with investment analysts, data scientists, and actuaries on projects ranging from short-term tasks to full-term initiatives.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist in the development and refinement of asset and liability models to evaluate changes in portfolio returns and economic assumptions.
    • Conduct statistical analysis on simulation outputs and interpret key risk metrics.
    • Create and present data visualizations and summaries for audiences including investment professionals and risk managers.
    • Help design and execute stress tests and scenario analyses to assess portfolio resilience under various market conditions and economic shocks.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of automated workflows and solutions using Python to streamline processes.
    • Assist in preparing model documentation, risk reports, and presentations for stakeholders.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in a 3rd or 4th year undergraduate program or a Masters program in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Data Science, Accounting, or Actuarial Science.
    • A strong academic background in finance, risk management, or related quantitative fields.
    • Proficiency in Python or other programming languages for data analysis and modeling.
    • Familiarity with pension plan operations and the interaction between assets and liabilities.
    • Working knowledge of asset classes and their roles in diversified portfolios.
    • Experience with data visualization tools, such as Power BI, is preferred.
    • Candidates must be enrolled in a co-op program or returning to studies after the work term.

    • Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
    • Term: May 2027 to April 2028.
    • Work Modality: Hybrid.
    • Employment Type: Full-time, paid internship.
    • Compensation: $30 - $33 per hour, depending on experience.
