About the role#
The Capital Markets department at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan is hiring an intern for the Hedge Funds and Insurance Linked Securities team for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Toronto. You will work alongside investment professionals to help manage absolute and uncorrelated returns that diversify the broader pension portfolio.
What you'll do#
- Monitor and report on key drivers of risk, exposures, and profit or loss across various strategies.
- Conduct research on both new and current investment strategies.
- Build and maintain analytical tools to support team operations.
- Interface with top-tier hedge fund managers to learn about trading strategies across asset classes.
- Participate in a portfolio management case study throughout the term to develop and test your investment skills.
- Engage with other departments through networking and learning sessions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in the 3rd or 4th year of an undergraduate program, or a related Master's program.
- Must be enrolled in a co-op program or returning to studies after the work term.
- Strong Excel skills and basic programming ability, such as Python.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an interest in financial markets.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a team environment.

- Term: May 2027 to August 2027.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $30 to $36 per hour, depending on experience.
- This is a paid internship. Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
