About the role#
This internship program is a 12-week summer role starting in May 2027. You will join the substation engineering team to gain experience in the utility industry. You will work alongside engineering staff on projects, collaborate with team members, and participate in professional development activities. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Merrillville, Indiana.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineering staff with projects to support utility facility needs.
- Evaluate, design, estimate, and help manage electric facility projects.
- Collect and analyze data while reviewing project records.
- Create job order sketches using AutoCAD.
- Perform field measurements and assemble data for job order estimates.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET accredited, four-year engineering program.
- Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Civil Engineering.
- Completion of at least one year of undergraduate study.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Proficiency with PC applications, including AutoCAD, MS Excel, and Access.
- Ability to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
