About the role#
The Application Engineering Co-Op supports the creation of custom motor solutions for general industry applications. This role works alongside applications engineering, development, manufacturing, and purchasing teams to solve system issues and develop motor designs for specific customer needs.
What you'll do#
- Prepare motors, test fixtures, and test equipment.
- Run a dynamometer to test electric motors and assist engineers with motor testing.
- Collect and summarize test data in reports using graphical analysis.
- Assemble, disassemble, and modify motors for experimentation and improvement.
- Use electronic and mechanical lab tools, including calipers, CMM, or surface tables, to measure parts and describe motor performance.
- Assist in troubleshooting motor issues and identifying motor designs for customer systems.
- Prepare and ship motor samples to customers.
- Write engineering change notices.
- Assist with samples, customer approvals, manufacturing issues, and UL approvals.
- Estimate and track the time required for internal and customer support tasks.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an undergraduate program for Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Physics.
- Ability to work 20 to 30 hours per week.
