About the role#
Nexus Engineering Group is looking for an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer Intern or Co-Op for the Summer 2027 term. You will work alongside our engineering team to prepare drawings, specifications, and calculations for client design projects. This role involves collaborating with other engineering disciplines to deliver cohesive project packages.
What you'll do#
- Complete calculations of limited complexity, such as control valve and flow meter sizing.
- Develop and maintain block and loop drawings.
- Provide support with instrument specifications.
- Assist experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineers with their daily activities.
- Gain an understanding of the business and engineering workflow in a consulting firm.
- Prepare instrument specifications and request quotes from vendors.
- Learn about process safety in the design and operation of client facilities.
- Apply industry codes and standards related to instrumentation and controls.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program for Chemical or Electrical Engineering at an accredited university.
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
- Effective communication skills to convey ideas clearly.
- Ability to work within diverse teams that include Nexus staff and clients.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or other drafting software is a plus.
- A willingness to seek feedback to improve your performance.
