About the role#
This co-op position offers students the chance to apply classroom learning to Electrical Power Steering (EPS) development. You will work on-site in Saginaw, Michigan, supporting software and calibration updates for customer samples, vehicle testing, and production. This is a paid, full-time student role that requires a commitment to balancing academic studies with professional responsibilities.
What you'll do#
- Assist in EPS troubleshooting using tools like CANalyzer, CANape, CANoe, and oscilloscopes.
- Support software development and release activities through system bench and vehicle evaluations.
- Create electrical harnesses, breakout boxes, and connectors for controllers.
- Help update requirements throughout the development lifecycle.
- Contribute to the creation of DFMEAs, design reviews, and validation plans.
- Analyze and communicate data regarding defects, software changes, and validation updates.
- Assist with vehicle logistics and attend internal product development team meetings.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 2-year or 4-year college local to Saginaw, pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Full-time student status (12+ credits) during Fall and Winter semesters.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Ability to work 20-32 hours per week during the school year and up to 40 hours during the summer.
- Right to work in the US without current or future sponsorship.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office tools.
- Strong communication skills and a motivated approach to teamwork.
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and Excel for engineering calculations.
- Programming experience in C, C#, or Visual Basic.
- Familiarity with Vector tools for CAN networks.
- Fundamental knowledge of the engineering V model, vehicle dynamics, and electronic systems.
